There is nothing new in accounting that merits a 3 year upgrade cycle. I have a feeling that they will somehow remotely break the current versions of the software and blame Windows but if that's the case, I'll just keep an old Windows 10 laptop around for the next 20 years if I have to. We were already doing Intuit a favor by spending almost $700 after taxes A YEAR on a payroll subscription and buying a new version every 3 years but if they're going to get greedy, I'm going be stubborn and not only deny them the extra $349 a year they want (plus all the hoops we have to jump through like calling the Indian call centers where they don't speak a lick of English) but also deny them the $700 they would have gotten had they had QBD2023 on amazon for $180 like they used to.

Right now, we are just going to stick with our current version of the Desktop software and just use manual payroll.
This was very fair pricing and on par with all the other business suites like Microsoft Office and it was lower than Peachtree Accounting. I know if we had a previous version it would have only been $89. I don't remember what we paid for Quickbooks 2004 exactly but I think it was $120. For the first 4 years up till 2004, we WERE just using Excel but then our neighbor in the business park we were at told us to get Quickbooks and how awesome it was.
